When it comes to money, Genom could squash the KS. There's not going to be a whole lot left after it gets divvied up (and think about how many freebie jobs we see them doing). The 20 million yen Linna goes on about in episode 1 works out to somewhere around 200K USDollars (in 198x). But she's got to have money coming from somewhere. Probably no patents in her own name - draw too much attention. Probably no income from Daddy's patents, because Daddy worked for Genom and anything he developed from work would belong to them. All we know about Sylia's income is that she's got the lingerie shop, maybe some rental income from the building's other tenants (if there are any), and presumably some investments. Might this have actually been Sylia's idea when she first started pulling things together? Could this idea have changed if/when she fully realized it probably wasn't really possible, or what doing something like that could lead to?ĭo any of the KS think this is the plan? Did they ever think this was the plan? Is "join my group, we're going to try to stop Genom's excesses" a good recruitment sales pitch?
